Lisa Sauermann is a PhD candidate in the Department of Mathematics. She works in extremal combinatorics and her research combines techniques from combinatorics, algebra, and probability theory. In her dissertation, Lisa is focusing on polynomial methods in extremal combinatorics.
Stanford University Lisa Sauermann’s main research interests are in extremal combinatorics and graph theory, particularly in the use of probabilistic and algebraic techniques in these areas. Some of her research also lies at the intersection of combinatorics with additive number theory or with theoretical computer science.
Lisa Sauermann is a third-year graduate student at Stanford University; her advisor is Jacob Fox.
Lisa Sauermann, who completed her PhD with Prof. Jacob Fox at Stanford in 2019, has two dissertation prizes. First, she received the fourth annual Association for Women in Math Dissertation Prize.
Lisa Sauermann is a research mathematician working in extremal and probabilistic combinatorics. Lisa currently has the third best performance in IMO history with 4 gold and 1 silver medals, and was the only contestant to have a perfect score in 2011. She did her PhD at Stanford and is currently at the Institute of Advanced Studies.
Sauermann is currently researching an area of mathematics called extremal combinatorics and is finishing her thesis. After graduating this spring, she’ll join Stanford’s Department of Mathematics as a Szegö Assistant Professor.
